Thrifty Dishes

These purchases were from a few weeks ago. I have been having trouble with my internet connection. It has not allowed me to upload photos. So much for the upgrade.

I try to pay attention to what my friends like and collect just in case I find it at my favorite thrift store. Well, I found these at the Goodwill. My friend was surprised I remembered her pattern name.

They are Noritake in the Gloria pattern. I am on the look out for Trojan which is her mother's pattern. I purchase five plates for $4.99. We looked them up on Replacements.com and they were $17.99 each.

I found some Fiesta which has become rare here.

The white plate under the Scarlet salad plates is HLC Gothic. I kept it since it is by the same maker as Fiesta.  I believe that the plates to the right are Fire King. Whatever they are I liked them. This was all in bag with some other plates I didn't keep for $1.99.

The Fiesta bowls in Cobalt and Rose above were also found at the Goodwill. They were $1.99 for both.

Since I started this post a while back, I have to add that this weekend (10/15/11) I found another friend a lot of her dishes. They are Sango "The Sweetshop Shop". I found the whole crate for $34.99!! It has 9 cups, 12 dinner plates, 12 salad plates and 10 rim soup bowls. I'm still on the look out for some of the serving pieces.

I had fun finding dishes for myself and my friends.

I plan to link up with Linda @ Coastal Charm. Be sure to view everyones thrifty finds.

New To Me Hutch

I went to the Goodwill last week. I rarely look at the furnitures since I don't have anymore room for any. The hubby goes to the back of the store looking for tools. He is the one who saw it and called me to get a look at it.  Funny because he is always asking me where I am going to put my purchases. So we talk about it and decide to wait. During that weekend and the week, we reorganized the garage. We went back on Saturday and it was still there. So we took it as a sign that it was meant to be ours. Our plan worked and I have all my Christmas dishes in one place. It was worth the $24.99 we spent.
One drawer was missing and the other was broken.  We put a piece of wood on the bottom to hold all the Christmas plates.

I am kidding myself that by seeing all my Christmas stuff all year long that I may stop from purchasing any more.  Yeah right. Sorry I didn't take more pictures and the quality. They are all from my cell phone.

I will be linking up with Linda @ Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday. Be sure to visit her blog to see everyone's thrifty finds this week.

Have a good week.

Lots of thrifty finds

I had very good luck this weekend with my thrifty finds. I had been having somewhat of dry spell.
Here is the picture of all the goodies.

I saw the witch as soon as we walked into Savers. She was $3.99.

The green Tiara glass is for my friend Sam's sister. They were $0.99 each.
The small Fiesta platter was $.199 and the medium platter was $2.99. The color is Cinnabar.

The tray and coasters along with the linens were found at a local thrift store.  The tray was $2.99. It is aluminum and has lots of details.  The coasters were found several weeks ago. I just got around to cleaning them and polishing them. There are eight of them and a divided bowl.  They came home with me for $2.99.

I think the Fiesta runner was a tablecloth that was cut into a runner. The poinsietta napkins are Vera and match a tablecoth that is also Vera that my aunt gave me. The poinsietta runner will work on one my tables for Christmas.  Now my gem is the rose tablecloth. It goes very well with my Franciscian plates. I was so excited about the napkins and the tablecloth that I had to call my aunt. She is the only one here who would be just as excited as I am.

Can you say Ice cream tablescape?

The day started at an estate sale. Everything was extremely overpriced so I headed to my favorite thrift store.  They have a huge variety of dishes and napkins which is what I go for.  I found the three sugar cone bowls for $3.99. I saw a similar waffle cone cup at Pier 1 for $.699. I found 7 of them for $9.99.  I was thrilled.  The idea for the ice cream tablescape comes from the The Tablescaper's (http://www.thetablescaper.blogspot.com)  Ice Cream social that she created for her kids.  I want to do something similar for my nieces.

So what did you find this weekend?

This table was inspired by the napkins. I found them at my favorite thrift shop for $2.99 for a set of six.  I would have never thought to combine Apricot, Chocolate and Rose Fiesta had it not been for the napkins. I took out all my Apricot Fiesta with the exception of a medium vase. The cookie jar was a clearance purchase at Kohl's last year. The Rose Fiesta napkin rings came from eBay. The pink glasses were purchased at an estate sale and the amber glasses were purchased at the Goodwill. I copied the idea of putting the glass votive holders on the candles holders from another Fiesta collector.  I think that is the best idea.
I used my Chocolate Fiesta flat ware. I have fun setting up the table for a nice meal.  It makes it a little more special.

Goodwill Finds

We stopped at the Goodwill after work today.  It was a good thing.  I found 1 Harlequin dinner plate and two salad plates in green.  I also found an Ovenserve plate. They are all in pretty good shape and for $2.50 it was well worth it. I also found some glass votives that are for a candle holder that was found at Pier 1 on clearance because it was missing the votive holders.  Good buys make me happy.
