Watermelon for summer

I had planned to set the table for the first day of summer but we were busy that I barely set it today. I am linking up with The Tablescaper http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com for her weekly party called Seasonal Sundays.
Join me each Sunday for my weekly party

The inspiration was the napkin ring which was found sometime last year on clearance at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Then I found the votive holder at the Goodwill and finally the place mats at Tuesday Morning.  The basket was the base of my gift from my friend Ruby.  She gave several tablescaping goodies and have been  using something new each week.

Here is a close up of the place mat. I like the ant carrying the watermelon.

I layered two napkins.
Here is another view to see the napkin ring.
The designated salt and pepper shakers for my dad.  I use what I think are salt cellars to hold the teaspoons.

In order not to  clutter the table, I put the pitchers and bowls on the china cabinet.
Fiesta in Scarlet, White, Shamrock, Black, Yellow and Evergreen
Homer Laughlin Diner checkered plates
Divided and butter dish are from Crate and Barrel

I hope you are all having a great weekend.

Father's Day 2011

It is time to get ready for Tablescape Thursday over at Between Naps on the Porch. Please visit all the participants to see their beautiful creations.

This the table I had set up for Father's Day last Sunday. We had my parents and brother over again to celebrate Father's Day.  We purchased ribs and chicken already made.  My dad is crazy about ribs.  We also purchased the lemon cake.  He seemed very happy with the meal.
I had been thinking about this table since I received the purple glasses. My dad normally does not use the napkin or the glass so he didn't have a purple one.  The size is perfect for my mom to hold. The tablecloth and two matching napkins were a clearance purchase at Dillard's. Luckily the other napkins blend well.  So when I was thinking of which napkin rings to use, I was afraid of it being to girly for my dad because the only matching rings in which I had more that four were butterflies and bows. I was going to forget about them until I found these purple ones that I purchased at estate sale last year.

These salt and pepper shakers are specifically for my dad.  He dislikes the Fiesta ones because he can't tell the difference between the salt and the pepper no matter how many times I try to explain it. They came from one of my friend's who was cleaning out her dishes.

I moved some dishes around when it was time to eat since the table was crowded. I apologize for the dark pictures as I was trying to take them with natural light.  I really need to look into a new camera.

Fiesta colors: Plum, Heather, Yellow, Sunflower and Cinnabar

Fiesta Solids and Stripes 2011

I have been tablescaping for well over a year and admiring on the blogs that link up to Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On the Porch. I'm going to make my first attempt at linking up. I don't have the best camera in the world and my pictures have a yellow tint to them. But I have been wanting to join the party for a long time.

This is one of my favorite tables. I set a similar table last year. The place mats, napkin rings, glasses, flat ware and center mat were gifts. I love how this table came together with items that came at different times. This year I added my tiered plate as a center piece and some Fiesta accessories.
