I try to pay attention to what my friends like and collect just in case I find it at my favorite thrift store. Well, I found these at the Goodwill. My friend was surprised I remembered her pattern name.
They are Noritake in the Gloria pattern. I am on the look out for Trojan which is her mother's pattern. I purchase five plates for $4.99. We looked them up on Replacements.com and they were $17.99 each.
I found some Fiesta which has become rare here.
The white plate under the Scarlet salad plates is HLC Gothic. I kept it since it is by the same maker as Fiesta. I believe that the plates to the right are Fire King. Whatever they are I liked them. This was all in bag with some other plates I didn't keep for $1.99.
The Fiesta bowls in Cobalt and Rose above were also found at the Goodwill. They were $1.99 for both.
Since I started this post a while back, I have to add that this weekend (10/15/11) I found another friend a lot of her dishes. They are Sango "The Sweetshop Shop". I found the whole crate for $34.99!! It has 9 cups, 12 dinner plates, 12 salad plates and 10 rim soup bowls. I'm still on the look out for some of the serving pieces.
I had fun finding dishes for myself and my friends.
I plan to link up with Linda @ Coastal Charm. Be sure to view everyones thrifty finds.

Monica, you got a great deal on the Noritake...pretty pattern you are seeking. I will keep my eye out while out thrifting...you just never know what you will find!
ReplyDeleteHey Monica, Love your Goodwill finds! You are a good friend, I would not want to give up those Noritake dishes, they are a very pretty pattern. Can not believe you found so many pieces of fiestaware, I rarely see those at the thrift shops. Hope you saw my post on my thrift store finds, the hunt is fun. Thanks for stopping by, Laura
ReplyDeleteVery nice finds, Monica! Have fun 'scaping with the Sango.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteDiane, if I ever make it to Houston again we will definitely go thrifting.
Marigene, My friend went back for the saucers that she had said she didn't want. Thanks for keeping a eye on the pattern.
Laura, I did see your beautiful HLC dishes. I thought I had left a comment.
Daphne, I won't get to 'scape until I drive up to Ruidoso, NM. Another friend is taking the dishes up to my friend this weekend.
You're a good friend, indeed. I find dishes for friends at estate sales and in antique or thrift shopts. One of my favorite things about my iPhone is the ability to take a picture of the dishes and text it to a friend to see if she wants me to buy them...on the spot. Thanks for sharing your marvelous finds with us and for stopping by for a visit. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteHi, Thanks for stopping by and visiting my little tablescape. It was a lot of fun to do, and I can't wait to do another one next week. I am getting way to many ideas from everyone over at Susan's today. Next week I may use my Fiesta, so I hope you'll stop back by if you have time.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Sandra
Doesn't it make you feel good when you find something for a friend and a bargain at that! We women have some of the hunter's instinct like men do only in different ways. I think someone with a lot of energy could go in the business like Replacements and give them some competition. It might be you!
ReplyDeleteYou were so sweet to remember about my decorating with cotton from one of my posts to the other. You know sometimes we feel as if we say things in our blogs that just go out in the air. I appreciate your feedback so much.
Can't believe what you found...the dishes are incredible. I am never that lucky! I'm a new follower. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteSo enjoy reading your blog and love your photos! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful thrift finds! Don't you lve being able to find special things for friends or family! I do the same thing!
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at how you can use your fiesta ware and come up with a completely new tablescape.Don't you just love thrift stores. It makes it so I can afford to be a tablescaper.
