Goodwilling

I am too wired to sleep again. The night before was because I took a non drowsy allergy pill and tonight I'm too happy about my purchases and gifts. I've running on the high of the purchase I made this week of a Fiesta periwinkle plate with the Bugs Bunny decal for a $1. Since then I've gone to three other Goodwills. I found a lot of candlestick holders, Taco Bell Chihuahuas, an odd pitcher and a filagree hairspray cover. I have also been blessed with a lot of great gifts. My friend G gave me a beautiful basket full of fall decorations and cinnamon bread. I will be using them on my table this week. My friend S gave me a Riviera casserole dish in Mauve blue and a filagree box made by Avon. I have most of my stuff on the table. I am sitting here admiring it It's not just the stuff that has made me so happy it's that I have friends who care to get me anything at all. The great plus today was that my mom had a great day too. She ate very well and had fun at the stores. Also yesterday we had a nice evening with our friends L & J. We made dinner and then watched the Miner game. It was nice to spend time with them. I'm very blessed.

Fiesta Sunday

I have tablescaping and having lots of fun with my dishes. I've created a new wish list for table cloths, placemat and napkin rings. Today, I combined Periwinkle and Chocolate. I used brown placemat,Periwinkle plate, Chocolate luncheon plate, Periwinkle bowl and Hostess bowl, Chocolate flatware and salt/pepper shakers. I added Periwinkle bulb and Millenium candle holders. I used yellow pom pom flowers in a blue glass vase. Someday I hope to upload photos.

Good day

Day has been a good day: no has gotten sick, nothing appears to be broken, I had a good hair day and I wore my favorite shoes. I received the newspaper clipping of my parents wedding announcement. I need to laminate it. I am enjoying seeing everyones tablescapes. You all give me so much inspiration.

My mom and dads wedding announcement

I received a phone call from my cousin Carmen earlier this evening. She called to tell me that she and her sibilings have cleaning out my aunt's home. In a box marked "my personal things" was my parent's wedding announcement from the newspaper. I didn't know that this existed. My neighbor told me that back then when someone got a marriage license it would automatically show up in the newspaper. I was so excited I think I screamed. My mom is not a mushy or sentimental person so it doesn't surprise me that she didn't think to save a copy. Hopefully I will get to pick it up next weekend.

better day

Today has been a good day. My parents were here again and my mom was very alert. We went thru pictures and knew who most of the people were. We made Rachael Ray's Italian Nachos. I served them on Heather oval trays. They were good and I have lunch for tomorrow. I didn't get a chance to remove the Fiesta icon tablecloth and use some purple place mats. My parents don't understand. My dad refuses to use a glass. He driks straight from the can. Just saw the fires in CA. Need to make some calls.

summers end

I am not ready for summer to end. I am not ready for shorter days. I am not looking forward to the holidays either. I do want to take out my Christmas dishes. We didn't even put the big tree up last year not sure I want to put it up this year either. I feel down and it's due to my mom's health. Her memory is getting worse every day. I think she had another TIA (mini stroke). I am going to make an appointment with a neurologist.

Sunday Drive

We drove thru the nearby farming towns of Socorro, San Elizario and Clint. It was great to see all the cotton and pecan fields. We stopped at Licon Dairy Farm. We bought Asadero cheese and tortillas. We ate them in the car. It was so good. They have a mini zoo. We saw donkeys, llamas, a camel, roosters, deer, a turkey, longhorns, rams, buffalo and peacocks. I got some pictures but too bad I can't load them. It was a nice afternoon.

Favorite Fiesta colors and combinations

My favorite colors are Persimmon ad Turquoise. They the first colors I purchased. Yellow, Rose and Chocolate are my other favorites. I like to use different color combinations. For Easter this yearI used Rose and Gray.When Chocolate came out, combined it with Rose and Turquoise. I've combined the blues together. The next combination I want bring out are all the greens. Again, I wish I could post pictures.

What can I add to my boring blog? I cleaned out my closet. I got rid of the clothes that fit REALLy big. That felt good. It means I am doing something right. I have use that same discipline in my meal planning with everything. I mean in keeping organized. Whether it be the closets or my office. Anyway I am washing the clothes that was in the back of the closet that now fits. Good thing I didn't get rid of that stuff. Can you imagine all the money I would have to spend on clothes instead of Fiesta. LOL. I need to get the embossed ornament being sold by the Association. I need save for a real computer to be able to use this site properly. This "smart phone" can only do so much. I want to upload all my pictures of my Fiesta collection as well as the Fire King and Pyrex collections.

lemon grass

I purchased my first pieces of Lemon grass today. I got salt and pepper shakers and fruit bowl. Very similar to chartreuse. Something made me go to Dillard's at lunch time. I got Sam her fruit bowl also. The price went up from $4.00 to $5.50.

father's day

Invited my parents for lunch. We had fajitas with guacamole and chile con queso. My dad like the queso. I "played" with my dishes almost all day. Ofcourse in between making lunch and laundry. I took everything off a bookcase and washed them and rearranged. I got more Turquoise. There is ot enough in El Paso. We went to the Kohls on the westside of town and found a gust bowl and fruit bowls. I got four of the fruit bowls. I am keeping three and giving one to Sam my fellow collector. We stop by Dillards before heading West. I loved the display they had. That and my new Fiesta inspired me to play. I have to metion that some of my display is copied from Comfort in Concentrics. She had a picture of bowl with a plate on top with a bowl on top and so on. I still find it odd that these dishes make me so happy.

dr visit

I am waiting at the doctor's office. I am still sick with a cold or sinus infection. I am tired of being sick. I know many can relate and have more serious illnesses. I shouldn't complain but I get sick so often. It is really getting annoying. It's not like I haven't made changes to keep fro getting sick. I am eating better and excersing more. My potassium is still low too. I hate taking that pill and I have to take it four times a day. I am going to get in trouble at work. I have been waiting 2 1/2 hrs now. I am starving now. My blog is so boring. This is just life. I love reading other blog and seeing their dish collections. I need to get a computer so I can add my photos. I still want to submit an article to the Hlcca too. Time is not my friend. I hear the doctor. Bigger issues with another patient.

password forgotten

I forgot my password. I have so many to remember. I am still trying to get the hang of this. I got my Scarlet Fiesta tray yesterday at Dillards. It is a good size. I rearranged some of dishes today. I broughtout my Persimmon plates to combine with Peacock, Turquoise and Yellow. My friend Ana gave Turquoise flat ware. Persimmon and Turquoise are my favorite colors. She asked me why I wanted to create a blog. I want to show off my dishes. My Fiesta has helped kept me sane this past few years with the stress of dealing with Rene's cancer.Now the stress is my health:I have been diagnosed with diabetes. I was in denial for a while.I have made several changes to try to get my sugar levels under control. The frustrating part is having to follow a schedule to eat. No more spur of the moment. Planning. I hate to plan. Things go wrong when I plan.

Update on Rene's surgery: vitals are doing well and surgery is "crusing" along. I like the system here. They have 5 stations of computers, lots of chairs, and areas with and without tv. One has to register with the volunteers. They coordinate when a nurse (liason) comes with updates every two hours. You get to speak with the nurse in a private room. I sent an email and called a few people.

1st posting

Here I am in Houston at MD Anderson Hospital waitng for my husband to get out of surgery. We watched enough home remodel shows to make us want to go home and make changes. I wrote down lots of ideas to display my Fiesta collection. We didn't get a chance to go to my favorite place, Edish, located in the Antique Pavilion to add to my collection. It wasn't that important this time. I can't wait to upload photos of my collection to share.
