Halloween 2011

I haven't been inspired to work on a table. It has been a stressful month. I have been spending most of my time with my Spunky baby. She turns 9 tomorrow (63 in dog years). She has been diagnosed with cancer. We don't know how much time we have but we are keeping her a comfortable as possible. She is responding well to the meds and eating again.  Thank God for that.

I had started the table but took it apart. I put it back after a trip to Kohl's. I had liked the place mats and they were at 60% off so I got them.  I had purchased the napkin rings a while back. I had all the decorations all over the living room and decided to bring them all into the dining area. I apologize for the blurry pictures and not taking a picture of the whole table.

My dad purchased the crow tree. I added the pumpkin lights that I had found at an estate sale a few months back.
This ghost along with another was given to me by my friend's mom.

I found these little goblets at Goodill and the coasters at another thrift store.

Mickey was an estate sale find and the "BOO" plates were from thrift store.

I am going to enjoy this Halloween with my Spunky baby.

I hope to link up with The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays.

Have a Happy Halloween.

Thrifty Dishes

These purchases were from a few weeks ago. I have been having trouble with my internet connection. It has not allowed me to upload photos. So much for the upgrade.

I try to pay attention to what my friends like and collect just in case I find it at my favorite thrift store. Well, I found these at the Goodwill. My friend was surprised I remembered her pattern name.

They are Noritake in the Gloria pattern. I am on the look out for Trojan which is her mother's pattern. I purchase five plates for $4.99. We looked them up on Replacements.com and they were $17.99 each.

I found some Fiesta which has become rare here.

The white plate under the Scarlet salad plates is HLC Gothic. I kept it since it is by the same maker as Fiesta.  I believe that the plates to the right are Fire King. Whatever they are I liked them. This was all in bag with some other plates I didn't keep for $1.99.

The Fiesta bowls in Cobalt and Rose above were also found at the Goodwill. They were $1.99 for both.

Since I started this post a while back, I have to add that this weekend (10/15/11) I found another friend a lot of her dishes. They are Sango "The Sweetshop Shop". I found the whole crate for $34.99!! It has 9 cups, 12 dinner plates, 12 salad plates and 10 rim soup bowls. I'm still on the look out for some of the serving pieces.

I had fun finding dishes for myself and my friends.

I plan to link up with Linda @ Coastal Charm. Be sure to view everyones thrifty finds.

Fall with Vera

I haven't been able to post since my internet provider has upgraded I can no longer upload pictures and my mom, dog and now me have been ill.  I have been wanting to post this table for a couple of weeks. I think.... I have lost track of time.

Every season is the season to have friends over. We were so happy when my friend agreed to come over. Of course, I had to set a nice table for her.  I used the Vera linens that I found on clearance last year at Macy's. I do have to admit that up until I found this runner and napkins, I didn't care too much for the Fiesta color in Cinnabar. Now I wish I had more.  LOL. I made chicken tacos and Spanish rice. I waited to make the rice until my friend came over so she can try to make it for her family. It was fun as she was taking pictures and taking notes. Sometimes when she asked why I did what I did my response was: "because that is the way my mom did it". We would crack up because she does somethings just the way her mom tells her to.

My friend has influenced my fall decorating. It is "our" holiday. We keep buying things for each other. It was her and all you wonderful bloggers that got me addicted to decorating for fall.
The Fiesta colors are in Cinnabar, White, Chocolate, Sunflower, Persimmon, Yellow and Paprika.

I used my Franciscan bowl to hold the flowers.

I've used the same napkin rings, glasses and salad bowl from my first fall table.

Thanks for stopping by. I am linking up with the The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays. Be sure to stop by all the other blogs to see what they are doing this season.
